Investment Philosophy

I am fortunate to have been a part of the venture capital industry for the last 37 years.

As a marketing person, I look for opportunities where a company is solving real problems for a large market.  The experience, skills, and fit of the team for the problem they are solving is critical.  I value integrity in entrepreneurs as highly as any other attribute.   The company must provide unique, often technical barriers to entry to competitors.  I enjoy finding investments that line up with my passions of art, travel, fashion, food and sports

I have enjoyed backing a diverse set of entrepreneurs and feel especially pleased that a large percentage of my recent investments have been in teams with women founders.  These female led companies include The RealReal, Olivela, Argent, Olive &June, Pepperlane and Skin Spirit

The Longevity Market

As people live longer, healthier lives I believe that new business opportunities and markets will emerge.  To date, most investments in this area have been targeted at the health care and assisted living aspects of aging.  I am interested in companies that have a strategy for tapping into the needs, wants and buying power of people in their “third trimester” of life.
